Visitor

Year 1 were very lucky to have a special visitor this afternoon. Mrs Lancaster is a costume designer at the Theatre Royal and she came in to talk about her job. We got to see examples of her designs and special tricks they use to create different affects including glue and rabbit food for sick! We got to see a quick-change outfit and a hat made from a bobble hat. Mrs Lancaster explained how she started her job by sewing poppers onto clothes but worked hard and showed enthusiasm and she now leads the team. She reminded us when you do your best and try your hardest incredible things will happen!

Homework

 As part of our Riverside's Ready week we have practised how to complete our homework. Remember you can keep you homework folder until Wednesday so you can practise your spellings every night! 

Exploring the apparatus in PE

 As part of our Riverside's Ready week we have been exploring the apparatus in our PE lessons. We have learnt how to carry the mats and benches safely and how to put them away at the end of the lesson. We also explored how to travel around the apparatus in a safe manner and how to stop when our teachers clapped. We can't wait to carry on using the apparatus this term and look forward to making up our own gymnastic sequences. 

 

Father Christmas

We were so lucky to have a visit from Father Christmas this morning. We sang Jingle Bells to make him smile and we all were given a chocolate lolly.

Year 1 Polar Express 1MB

We have had a wonderful Polar Express Day!! The day stared with porridge and toast to warm us up from the cold morning. We then took part in a range of activities including making elves, decorating our tickets and seeing how long a paper chain we could make. We then had lots of fun singing and dancing to Christmas songs. This afternoon we had a very special visitor on our train!! The children have been so excited we hope you enjoy our pictures.

Polar Express Day 1TC

We then took part in a range of activities including making elves, decorating our tickets and seeing how long a paper chain we could make. We then had lots of fun singing and dancing to Christmas songs. This afternoon we had a very special visitor on our train!! The children have been so excited we hope you enjoy our pictures.

Joining materials

In design and technology this week we have been investigating different ways to join felt. We need to know which would be the best way to join our hand templates to make our puppets. We used a range of materials including glue, blu tac, stapes and even used wool to sew. We decided sewing the felt would be the best way to join the pieces to make our puppets.
